We’re getting married! For a few reasons we’re eloping to Vegas, the biggest reason being that the majority of our family and old friends live on the other side of the country and us traveling to them makes more sense. So, in the summer we’ll go back home and have a big reception where I’ll get to see my cousins drunk.
I promised myself I wouldn’t get too obsessive about our plans, but a few weeks spent snowed in last winter left me with little to do but huddle under a down comforter on my couch and shuffle through pictures of wedding dresses and jewelry, and thus a weblog was needed to keep track of everything.
We’ve only got a few months to go and I have a dress to make. Let the freak out begin.

Congrats Megan! Vegas was a surprise when Maggi told me, but I bet you are going to have a blast (no pun intended. snort snort.) Can’t wait to see the dress!
Thanks Melissa!
Ahh I got married in VEGAS! It was awesome. I hope its awesome and good luck with your dress!
I got married in Vegas, too. At the Venetian, on a gondola. Planned the whole thing in less than 3 weeks - ceremony, dress, everything. Had a reception when we came home. It was awesome! And everyone was saying how they wished they would have done it for their weddings.
Thanks you two! We’ve been getting good feedback for the small wedding/reception later plan. Neither of us has been to Vegas so at the very least it will be someplace to explore together.
Not sure if this helps for the Vegas part, but maybe it will help for the reception: Don’t tell vendors it’s a wedding. Just call it a family celebration or something. The W word automatically jacks up the price for everything!!! Ask me how I know…
Thanks for the tip KT! We have a reception to plan later in the summer.
I grew up in Washington but live in Phoenix now. I also got married in Vegas, well, in Henderson, at Lake Las Vegas and had a home reception in Washington. It really was a great way to do it. Small wedding so we got to visit with everyone there one-on-one and a larger party/reception later. So much fun!
My husband and I ‘eloped’ 5 years ago, I’m so glad we did it for us! We drove our vintage scooter to the courthouse, said our vows in front of 6 of our closest friends. We had an amazing lunch at the 4 Seasons Hotel, and then dined with our friends at the Pink Door…best day of our lives, and the hottest day of the year to boot! We had a big party for our friends/family 1 month later, had Thai food catered from Rom Mai Thai, danced to 60’s soul music, I even ‘reenacted’ the walk down the aisle bit for my dad. You’ll have a blast, be true to you. Can’t wait to see your updates.
Vegas is awesome! My husband and I got married there eight years ago this September. We loved it and I hope you do too!
